OUR STORY

We started FunFox because schools weren’t teaching children how to write. They were just testing it.

FunFox was built on a simple but frustrating observation: children were being marked on writing skills that no one had ever explicitly taught them. We decided to change that, one child at a time.

WHY WE EXIST

Why FunFox exists

FunFox began with a classroom observation that became impossible to ignore. Children were coming home with marked essays, but no one had shown them how to write one. They were expected to produce clear, structured, expressive writing without ever being taught the building blocks.

The gap wasn’t effort or intelligence. It was method. Schools tested writing outcomes, but the process of thinking, planning, structuring, and revising was left entirely to chance.

FunFox was built to close that gap. Not through tutoring, through a genuine, step-by-step teaching system that treats writing as a learnable skill, not a mysterious talent some children are born with.

Writing is the one skill that crosses every subject, every exam, and every stage of life. We built FunFox because every child deserves to be taught it properly.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

What we believe about how children learn

Every decision we make, how we structure classes, how we give feedback, how we group students comes back to these four beliefs.

01

Writing is a skill, not a talent

Every child can learn to write well. Not some children, all of them. The difference between a strong writer and a struggling one is almost always method, not ability. We teach the method.

02

Fun is not the opposite of rigour

Children learn more when they’re enjoying themselves. Game-based learning, lively discussion, and peer interaction aren’t compromises, they’re the most effective delivery mechanisms we know.

03

Feedback is the engine of improvement

Practice without feedback creates habits, not always good ones. Every piece of work a FunFox student produces is reviewed and returned with specific, constructive, confidence-building feedback. Every time.

04

Small groups change everything

A child in a class of 30 disappears. A child in a group of 3–6 thrives. Small enough for individual attention. Large enough for peer interaction that accelerates learning. That’s our class size always.

HOW WE’RE DIFFERENT

We’re not a tutoring service. We’re a thinking and expression system.

The distinction matters, because it changes everything about how we teach.

Structured curriculum

Every term has a clear focus and progression. Skills are introduced in the right order and built on deliberately, not covered at random.

Personal feedback always

No generic comments. No ticks and crosses. Every student gets written feedback on every piece of work specific to their writing, their level, and their next step.

Flipped classroom model

Homework comes before class. Students arrive primed, having already attempted the concept. Class time is used for guided practice and discussion, not passive instruction.

Capped at 6 students

Always. No exceptions. Small enough for the teacher to know every student deeply. Large enough for peer discussion to add genuine intellectual value.

Progress you can see

Parents access the Learning Den portal to view homework, feedback, and class recordings. The improvement is visible, week by week, not just at report card time.

Competition-proven results

Multiple gold medals at the Commonwealth International Writing Competition. Not because we coach competition entry, but because strong writers win competitions naturally.
